Princess and The Frog

Do you still remember my previous post about The Newest Princess from Walt Disney?

The Princess and the FrogWalt Disney Animation Studios presents the musical THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, an animated comedy set in the great city of New Orleans. From the creators of “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin” comes a modern twist on a classic tale, featuring a beautiful girl named Tiana (ANIKA NONI ROSE), a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana. THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG marks the return to hand-drawn animation from the revered team of John Musker and Ron Clements, with music by Oscar®-winning composer Randy Newman.

It’s supposed to be played on theatres on your country now or soon… Tell us if you’ve watched it!

From Barney to Disney Channel Demi Lovato

DisneyIf you have been keeping track of Disney, you would have noticed that Disney is everywhere.  Disney has become a large corporation.  They are no longer just a children dreams company, but a company that has fingers everywhere.  This is great for some, but brings the Disney image into question.

Growing up, Disney was synonymous with family values.  If you heard Disney made it, you would know it’s safe for young children.  However, as Disney grew, so did its audience.  It was no longer family.  It became adults, teenagers, etc.

Disney made some mistakes growing up.  Like any child becoming an adult, they took risks.  Some of these risk backfired.  Some did not.  Looking at it with the knowledge of where Disney is now, it looks like it all worked out.

Disney has found a balance.  They are still able to make family friendly movies.  Yet, they can still make adult films.  I have to hand it to Disney for making it work and keeping the tradition alive.

Thank you Disney

Disney on Ice Princess Wishes

Disney on Ice

Credit Charactercentral.net

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always  wanted to see Disney on Ice. Disney Ice Princess are amazing.  They are the real deal princesses and they are also figure skaters.

I have watched figure skating growing up.  It’s amazing how these athletes just dance on the ice.  It’s like gliding on the clouds.

What about a Disney Princess Wish?  Do Disney Princesses have wishes?

If you have ever watched a Disney movie, you would know that they are full of wishes.  It’s the magic of Disney that makes it so special.  If you ever get a chance to see Disney on Ice, I would likely recommend it.

Congratulations, Wall-E!

Although it had six nominations for Oscar, an Pixar-Walt Disney animation Wall-E had won an Oscar for “Best Animated Film”. It was also nominated for Original Score, Original Song, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Original Screenplay.

Wall-E

Wall-E , like I’ve discussed before here, is an animation created by Pixar Studio and Walt Disney Production in 2008. It doesn’t have many dialogues, but still, it’s interesting to watch. The story is fresh and it’s showing us how our Earth will be if we keep making it dirty. Wall-E is a robot which has to clean our Earth so human will be able to live in it again.

One thing I remember from Wall-E is M-O, the robot whose duty is to make sure everything is clean in Axiom (the space ship where people from Earth live). M-O is Microbe Obliterator, which obsess to clean the ship and inspects incoming shipments. Every time M-O sees Wall-E, he always makes Wall-E clean. Wall-E dirty trail (because he is from our dirty Earth) always makes M-O upset, but he still cleans it. I love him! One thing interesting about Wall-E and M-O, they have same person to be their voice. Benn Burtt voiced Wall-E and M-O.

I feel pity that Wall-E didn’t get all the Oscars, but at least it won one. Besides Wall-E, Walt Disney was also nominated for Bolt. It is not 3D animation, but 2D animation with John Travolta and Miley Cyrus as Bolt and Penny.

Disney Goes to Emmy

Phineas and FerbEver wonder what it’s like to be nominated for an Emmy® Award? What would you wear on the red carpet, and would you rehearse your speech … just in case? A new crop of nominees are facing the elation — and the butterflies in the stomach — that an Emmy nod bring. You can catch the excitement at home when “The 60th Primetime Emmy® Awards” air live from the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 21 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network. “High School Musical 2,” “Hannah Montana,” “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” and more are in the running — and among the nominees is the brand-new Disney Channel series “Phineas and Ferb,” which has snagged two nods for its music. The animated show has wowed audiences with its combination of cutting-edge animation, endearing characters, and catchy songs.

The Insider had a chat with proud nominees Jeff “Swampy” Marsh and Dan Povenmire, both writers for “Phineas and Ferb,” about what it’s like to be nominated, what’s unique about “Phineas and Ferb,” and how they write all those songs.

For those who imagine that Emmy nominees are notified by a midnight congratulatory phone call, the truth turns out to be less glamorous. Dan says, “I didn’t know we had been nominated until a friend sent me an e-mail saying ‘by the way, congratulations!’ and I didn’t know what she was congratulating me for. She said on the Emmy nominations, so then I left Swampy a message …”
Swampy adds,” … which I didn’t get that morning, so I had no idea!” Dan laughs, “We had a whole conversation about the Emmys that morning, and I didn’t know Swampy hadn’t gotten my message. About midway through the conversation, he said ‘What are we talking about? I’m lost here!’”

Conversation with the two writers is often like this — they riff off each other, finishing sentences and laughing frequently. So perhaps it’s no surprise that their songwriting partnership works the same way. One of the best aspects of “Phineas and Ferb,” they say, is getting to compose together. Dan explains, “Swampy and I are both frustrated musicians, we’ve both played in bands and wrote songs all the time when we were younger. So we got together and wrote songs!” Swampy continues, “That’s our Friday night! We get together, Dan and I, and usually a couple of members of the crew and we’ll drag out the guitars and a keyboard, and we say ‘All right, this week we need a song about giraffes and motor boats, in a Broadway musical style.’” Dan adds, “Or a song that sounds like ABBA about miniature golf! The great thing is that we write the song, we sing it into our composer’s answering machine on Friday night, he produces it over the weekend, and we get a finished song back, ready for the air, by Monday. It takes us about an hour to write a song about anything.”

“Phineas and Ferb” is all about exactly that kind of invention and imagination. And as Swampy and Dan point out, that spirit is very Disney. “Walt Disney said that ‘it’s kind of fun to do the impossible’,” observes Swampy. “Well, that’s ‘Phineas and Ferb’ in a nutshell! The whole premise of the show is ‘dream big and go out and do stuff,’ and that’s Disney all over!”

Another Disney hallmark is family entertainment that’s fun without being snide or insulting, and that has been a hallmark of “Phineas and Ferb.” Swampy explains, “One of the things we’ve always felt about Disney is that parents see it as a safe place for kids, and we’re both parents. We like to make sure that ‘Phineas and Ferb’ keeps its edge but is never anything parents wouldn’t want their kids to watch.” Dan agrees, “We try to keep them very innocent — they’re never mean or snotty. We always try to remember that Phineas and Ferb are motivated by fun.”

With a writing team planning to attend the Emmys in kilts, it’s clear that the spirit of fun is the heart and soul of “Phineas and Ferb” — as well as the heart and soul of Disney. After all, Walt Disney himself was always one to embrace new opportunities and technologies, and television was no exception. Way back in 1955, when television was in its infancy, he created the pioneering “Disneyland” TV series. “Disneyland” was honored with no less than three Emmy awards that year, and Walt would surely be smiling as Disney goes to the Emmys once again.

So Close – Enchanted Waltz Dance

I’ve told you in my previous blog, that I love Enchanted so much.

Enchanted, one of Walt Disney’s movie which combines animation and real human. One of the precious scenes in Enchanted is the scene when Giselle and Robert are dancing at the ball. They want to be close together, but at the same time, they have to be far, because Giselle has to go back to Andalasia with Edward. It’s very touching, so melancholic, and I love the song.

The song So Close, is sung by Jon McLaughlin. When I heard it for the first time, I was touched by its atmosphere, and also by the farewell between Robert and Giselle. In addition, Jon McLaughlin also has a great voice, which adds the melancholic feelings to the song.

Here I enclose the lyrics of So Close, when Giselle and Robert are waltz-dancing. Enjoy…

SO CLOSE
Jon McLaughlin
(ost. Enchanted)

You’re in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music is playing on for only two
So close together
And when I’m with you
So close to feeling alone

A life goes by
Romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I wanted to hold you
So close

So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
And now you’re beside me and look how far we’ve come
So far we are so close

* dance

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We’re so close
To reaching that famous happy end
And almost believing this was not pretend
Let’s go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far

So This Is Love

When we are watching Cinderella, we can see that Cinderella is dancing with the Prince at the ball. When they are dancing, the world seems to be like theirs. The situation is very romantic of course. This is the moment where they realize that they are meant to be together. They are dancing accompanied by the song, So This is Love.

It’s very romantic, of course, accompanied by the beautiful voices from Cinderella (Illene Woods) and the Prince. I’m sure you’ll love it… ;)

Enjoy…

So This is Love

So this is love, Mmmmmm
So this is love
So this is what makes life divine
I’m all aglow, Mmmmmm
And now I know
The key to all heaven is mine
My heart has wings, Mmmmmm
And I can fly
I’ll touch ev’ry star in the sky
So this is the miracle that I’ve been dreaming of
Mmmmmm
Mmmmmm
So this is love

Long Ear Dumbo be Proud of Yourself

Do you remember your childhood story of Dumbo?  Dumbo is a childhood favorite of mine.  This elephant is amazing.

Dumbo

Coming from an era when things were a lot simpler, Dumbo learned to overcome his disadvantages.  He is made fun of as a little elephant.  I remember being made fun of for my name.  I can’t image how it would be if they made fun of my ears.

However, as I grew older, I enjoyed my name.  And Dumbo started enjoying is ears.  Have you ever seen an elephant fly?  You have… if you have seen the movie.  But the best part is… you have… if you have been on the Dumbo ride at Disneyland.

Skandar Keynes Edmund Pevensie

Skandar Keynes

He is the star of the Chronicles of Narnia.  Skandar Keynes has done it… it’s an amazing performance and the movie was a success.

In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Edmund betrays his siblings to the White Witch while he is under her influence.  However, as the story progresses, he accepts the that he is wrong. He is redeemed with the intervention of Aslan.  He joins the fight against the witch.

Fulfilling an ancient prophecy, Skandar becomes King Edmund the Just, King of Narnia.  And together, with sisters Susan and Lucy, co-ruler under High King Peter. Edmund is described in the books as being part of a ‘group of fair haired men’ and is specifically described as having a ‘golden beard’ so is most likely blond.

The stories are great.  The movies are wonderful, but the books are even better.  I recommend buying the books on Amazon.  You’ll spend hours hearing the tails and will remember them for the rest of your life.
