ABOUT THE MOVIE

This movie is an unusual movie which was produced by Walt Disney. Why? It was said so because it showed something beyond anything that time. In 1940s, the new movie industry had just appeared, which caused the movie produced were the movies with simple plot.

Having a animation movie in the cinemas (like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) were a superb thing, that’s what made Fantasia different, because it combines animation and music. At first, there were many people who considered it strange and extraordinary. But time after time, following technology improvement, people could see the greatness of Walt Disney who had thought forward at that time.

Fantasia consists of some stories. Most of it are the combination between music and the description of it in an animation. The music genre which is used in Fantasia is classical music.

DisneyTalks - Walt Disney Fantasia (1940)DisneyTalks - Walt Disney Fantasia (1940) One of what becomes popular in Fantasia is the story entitled "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice". In this story, we can see Mickey Mouse who is learning to become a sorcerer. One day, the sorcerer leaves his house and at the same time, Mickey screws up with the magical tools at that house.

FUN FACTS

  • In "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice", Mickey Mouse’s teacher is a sorcerer named Yen Sid. If we spell that name backward, it becomes Disney.
  • The classic music which are used in Fantasia are the works from some great world composers, such as Johann Sebastian Bach (in Toccata and Fugue in D Minor), Tchaikowsky (in The Nutcracker Suite), and Beethoven (in Pastoral Symphony).
  • At the time when Fantasia was released, New York Times, a famous newspaper, called it as an "earthquake" to describe how great the effect of Fantasia to movie industry.

Camp with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy

Author: disneytalks Categories: Characters, Disney in Me, Movies, Walt Disney

I accidentally found this interesting gadget. VillaWare V5555-11 MICKEY Mornin Toaster. When I see this, I recall my memory when I was a little girl (because of the bread). The bread makes me remember about a cartoon by Walt Disney which is starred by Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck.

I remember when I was a little girl, I had watched a cartoon which is starred by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. The story begins with the view of house and beautiful hills. The rooster wakes everybody up, and then Mickey appears. He realizes that it is a beautiful day and then he wakes Goofy and Donald up. the house then becomes a van, and Goofy drives the van to another beautiful place. While Goofy is driving the van, Mickey is cooking the meal for his friends.

How’s about Donald? He is still sleeping. Then Mickey forces him to wake up by changing the bed into a bathtub. Donald then takes a bath, but the birds are watching him. Here, we can see Donald’s temper here, while he gets angry to the birds.

The funny scene can also be found when they are eating. Mickey rings the bell after he has finished his cooking. Goofy leaves his car drive by itself. They have different ways of eating, especially when they are eating the corn (they eat the corn line by line, just like a typewriter… :D ).

When finally Goofy realizes that he has left his car alone, he tries to reach the wheels again. Accidentally, he makes the connector between the car and the van be separated. So Mickey and Donald are falling down in the van, while Goofy doesn’t realize that he has lost his friends. The intense comes when Donald and Mickey gives their faith, hoping that they will survive. Finally, and magically, the van meets Goofy’s car again, and back in track, like nothing has happened before…

I love this cartoon so much, but unfortunately, I cannot find the movie except in Youtube (and it’s not in English… sorry). So, enjoy it…

Disney Classic (part 2)

Author: disneytalks Categories: Music, Walt Disney

This is the continue of my previous post, about the video I’ve found at Youtube. Enjoy!

This video is a little different from the first Disney Classics video, but still holds the same meaning. The begining of the film, we are transported to the beauty of Africa as we see clips from "The Lion King". Then we suddenly go to Greece, where we see the love hardships of Hercules. As the song suggests, many Disney characters refuse to give into love, such as Beast, Mike Weslowski, Donald Duck and more. Then we travel to the Motion Picture world of Disney as we visit the first and remake of "Parent Trap". As their counterparts try to influence them into love, our love-denying Disney characters fight against love until they finally give in, and all the characters of Disney come together in LOVE. One of the famous love stories, "Beauty and the Beast" comes to life as we begin to travel from Disney movie to Disney Movie. Suddnely we see Snow White and her wishes for love, then Sleeping Beauty seeks love and eventually finds it. In the end, we see all the famous couples and love stories of Disney come together as Mickey and Minnie seal the deal with a kiss! The medley of songs are copyrighted to "Disney on the Record" Broadway Show and Soundtrack. Enjoy!!!

When I’m browsing at Youtube today, I find a video which is so wonderful… It was made by PantherEye06, as a tribute for Walt Disney.

Wow… I like it. He mixed Disney songs in one song and sung by a group (I don’t know the name of the group). I love it! It’s divided into 4 parts… And I also quote his note here… Thanks…

Hidden Mickey in Cinderella

Author: disneytalks Categories: Characters, Hidden Mickeys, Movies, Walt Disney

As you can know in my previous blog about the song in Walt Disney Production: Cinderella, a song entitled Oh Sing Sweet Nightingale, there is a hidden mickey here. It’s clearly seen in bubble when Cinderella is mopping the floor (right before Lucifer the cat make it dirty again).

To make it clearer, I’ve captured it :) See below!

Oh, Sing Sweet Nightingale

Walt Disney fans!

If you have watched Cinderella, I’m sure that you know that Lady Tremaine wants her daughter to have talent in music. She is telling Anastasia to play flute and Drizella to sing.

The result?

Even their cat, Lucifer, hates it!

But Cinderella sings it beautifully while she’s doing her chores. With bubbles appears as Hidden Mickey in this movie, Cinderella sing sweet nightingale…

The words and lyrics in this movie are written by Mack David, Al Hoffman, and Jerry Livingston. Walt Disney uses Ilene Woods to voice Cinderella and Rhoda Williams as Drizella.

Here is the lyrics, and below you can watch the clip… ;)

OH SING SWEET NIGHTINGALE

Oh, sing sweet nightingale
Sing sweet nightingale
High above me
Sing sweet nightingale

High above
Oh, sing sweet nightingale
Sing sweet nightingale, high
Oh sing sweet nightingale
Sing sweet nightingale
Sing sweet
Oh, sing sweet nightingale, sing
Oh, sing sweet nightingale
Oh, sing sweet
Oh, sing
Oh, sing sweet nightingale
Sing sweet nightingale
High

More about The Three Musketeers

We have seen Walt Disney’s the Three Musketeers. We all love it. But there are another things about it which I want you to know… :)

Enjoy…

an A113 (an inside joke present as Easter egg in animated films) is seen in the carriage. The carriage in which Mickey is captured has a licence plate that says “A-113″.

Hidden Jokes in The Three Musketeers

Pete also quotes part of Mickey Mouse March when he brings Mickey to the island prison. He says, “Hey there! Hi there! Ho there! You’re as welcome as can be!”

When Pete leaves Mickey to drown, Pete also states that he is going to stop a show which he likes to call I Just Can’t Wait to Be King (the same song as The Lion King’s song when Simba tries to escape from Zazu).

In this movie, we can find Minnie has a bang (a fringe of hair, cut to hang or curl over the forehead). It’s her first and only bang that Minnie has.

Minnie’s bang

A hidden Mickey can be seen clearly when Donald and Goofy comes to rescue Mickey from drowning. When Mickey lets go of the breath, the bubbles float and make the forms of Mickey’s head (see pictures below).

Hidden Mickey inThe Three Musketeers

Mickey and Donald use their own clothes in this movie (red pants for Mickey and blue sailor suit for Donald). We can see Mickey’s original suit when he is in a fight with the Beagle Boys and his original suit is under his uniform.
Mickey wears his real clothes in Three Musketeers
While Donald’s real suit can be seen when he refuses to save Minnie. Mickey says, “As long as we wear our uniforms, we have to protect Princess Minnie.” That makes Donald tear his own uniform and use his original suit. But then after he decides to help Mickey, he wears the uniform again.

The Beagle Boys are re-modeled, and they are not voiced by the usual voice actors. They are more greyish, and two of them has British accent instead of French.

The opera in this movie contains songs from the musical The Pirates of Penzance by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert.

Do you want to hear the Goofy hooler in this movie? Don’t worry! Goofy and Clarabelle make it for you… ;) Goofy hooler is a sound effect used frequently which shows Goofy’s cry when he is falling or being launched into the air. Bill Farmer, the current voice of Goofy, made the Goofy hooler in the Walt Disney Treasures - The Complete Goofy.

The part when Donald Duck says to Pete, “How’s this for a coward?” and poked him in the eyes was edited and removed when this movie was aired on Disney Channel and Toon Disney.

The film is adapted into a comic The Three Musketeers published by Gemstone Publishing. It shows a gag in the end when the Beagle Boys “Shorty” suggests to Pete that after they escape from the prison, they will rob the rich duck clan I heard about in Scotland.” Who is the duck they are talking about? Of course, they are talking about their everlasting rival, Mr. Scrooge McDuck.

Following its success, Walt Disney Production decided to produce a television show called The Mickey Mouse Club in 1955. It was aired by the American Broadcasting Company. It was created by Walt Disney himself, revised and reformatted several times along in its series aired on ABC 1955-1959.

In 1950, the series were used to promote the Disneyland theme park. At first, it’s titled as Disneyland, but after Bill Walsh to take the control to develop the format, it became The Mickey Mouse Club. It became a variety show for children, with news, cartoon, music, and comedy. Mickey Mouse Club was hosted by Jimmie Dodd.

The show has a theme song, called The Mickey Mouse March, written by Jimmie Dodd and was reprised with the slower “it’s time to say goodbye” verse at the end of each episode. Later, Disney used the shorter version as the beginning of the show.
