We have seen Walt Disney’s the Three Musketeers. We all love it. But there are another things about it which I want you to know… :)

Enjoy…

an A113 (an inside joke present as Easter egg in animated films) is seen in the carriage. The carriage in which Mickey is captured has a licence plate that says “A-113″.

Hidden Jokes in The Three Musketeers

Pete also quotes part of Mickey Mouse March when he brings Mickey to the island prison. He says, “Hey there! Hi there! Ho there! You’re as welcome as can be!”

When Pete leaves Mickey to drown, Pete also states that he is going to stop a show which he likes to call I Just Can’t Wait to Be King (the same song as The Lion King’s song when Simba tries to escape from Zazu).

In this movie, we can find Minnie has a bang (a fringe of hair, cut to hang or curl over the forehead). It’s her first and only bang that Minnie has.

Minnie’s bang

A hidden Mickey can be seen clearly when Donald and Goofy comes to rescue Mickey from drowning. When Mickey lets go of the breath, the bubbles float and make the forms of Mickey’s head (see pictures below).

Mickey and Donald use their own clothes in this movie (red pants for Mickey and blue sailor suit for Donald). We can see Mickey’s original suit when he is in a fight with the Beagle Boys and his original suit is under his uniform.

While Donald’s real suit can be seen when he refuses to save Minnie. Mickey says, “As long as we wear our uniforms, we have to protect Princess Minnie.” That makes Donald tear his own uniform and use his original suit. But then after he decides to help Mickey, he wears the uniform again.

The Beagle Boys are re-modeled, and they are not voiced by the usual voice actors. They are more greyish, and two of them has British accent instead of French.

The opera in this movie contains songs from the musical The Pirates of Penzance by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert.

Do you want to hear the Goofy hooler in this movie? Don’t worry! Goofy and Clarabelle make it for you… ;) Goofy hooler is a sound effect used frequently which shows Goofy’s cry when he is falling or being launched into the air. Bill Farmer, the current voice of Goofy, made the Goofy hooler in the Walt Disney Treasures - The Complete Goofy.

The part when Donald Duck says to Pete, “How’s this for a coward?” and poked him in the eyes was edited and removed when this movie was aired on Disney Channel and Toon Disney.

The film is adapted into a comic The Three Musketeers published by Gemstone Publishing. It shows a gag in the end when the Beagle Boys “Shorty” suggests to Pete that after they escape from the prison, they will rob the rich duck clan I heard about in Scotland.” Who is the duck they are talking about? Of course, they are talking about their everlasting rival, Mr. Scrooge McDuck.

The Three Musketeers: All for One and One for All

Author: disneytalks Categories: Characters, Movies, Walt Disney

Like I’ve said in previous blog, I love Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. And they are starring so many movies together. The last movie they starred together is The Three Musketeers.

The Three Musketeers Cover DVD

This movie is the animation adaptation of the The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, perè. This movie is directed by Donovan Cook, produced by Disney Toon Studios. It was released in a form of VHS and DVD, and distributed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment.

The voice of the characters are still filled by some of the stars such as, Wayne Alwine as Mickey Mouse, Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck, and Bill Farmer as Goofy (as well as Pluto). We also can find another stars such as Russi Taylor as Minnie Mouse, Tress MacNeille as Daisy Duck, Jim Cummings as Pete, April Winchell as Clarabelle the Cow, Rob Paulsen as the Trobadour (a French-speaking turtle as the narrator), Maurice LaMarche and Jeff Bennett as the Beagle Boys.

In this movie, once again, Mickey Mouse, along with his friends, Donald Duck and Goofy, are together. It’s all started when they were little children, they were helped by the real Musketeers. Little Mickey was given a hat (although it was too big for him). Since then, Little Mickey, Little Donald, and Little Goofy always wanted to be the Musketeers. Until they have grown up, they still want to be the musketeers, although they live as the janitors (together with Mickey’s loyal dog, Pluto). Mickey still have the hat, and he is still hoping that someday they will become the Musketeers. The captain of the real Musketeers is Pete-Leg Pete. He tells the buddies why they won’t become the Musketeers: Mickey is too short, Donald is a coward, and Goofy is too clumsy.

While working as janitors, Mickey the Short, Donald the Cowards, and Goofy the Clumsy, are always dreaming about being the Musketeers

Until one day, the Princess of France, Minnie Mouse, are discussing with her lady-in-waiting, Daisy Duck about how Minnie wants to find her true love. Then when Minnie is taking a walk, The Beagle Boys tries to kill her. Minnie feels in danger and she asks Pete to protect her by giving the best musketeers as her bodyguards. The one that Minnie doesn’t know that the Beagle Boys are taking the order to kill by Pete. Pete is the bad-guy!!! Pete does intends to kill Minnie, so he can take over the whole France. That reason makes him to choose Mickey, Donald, and Goofy as Minnie’s bodyguards.

The Beagle Boys are trying to kill Princess Minnie

The friendship is challenged when finally the Beagle Boys successfully kidnap Princess Minnie. Donald, who is too coward to act, refuses to help Minnie. Mickey, who has already fallen in love with Minnie, wants to help her. Goofy, the clumsy, are lured by Clarabelle the Cow, Pete’s lieutenant, to leave his duty: guarding the palace.

Mickey is upset because Donald is too coward while guarding the palace

Can the Three Musketeers successfully protect the princess?
Can Mickey finally take Minnie into his arms?
Can Donald also make Daisy fall in love with him?
Or can Goofy find his true love?

Find it by yourselves! ;)
If you want to watch it, make sure you buy the original one.
I found a great package here… Watch The Three Musketeers while holding the doll! :D
